Bang Bang Chicken is a delightful twist on a classic favorite, featuring tender chicken pieces with a crispy, golden coating. Marinated in buttermilk and coated in a spiced flour mixture, the chicken is fried to perfection and then tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce made from mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha. This dish combines a satisfying crunch with a bold, flavorful kick, perfect for those who love a bit of heat with their meal.

Ingredients

🍗 1 pound chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
🥛 1 cup buttermilk
🥚 1 egg
🧄 1 teaspoon garlic powder
🧅 1 teaspoon onion powder
🌶️ 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
🌶️ 1 teaspoon paprika
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
🍚 1 cup all-purpose flour
🌽 1/2 cup corn starch
🛢️ Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Sauce

🥄 1/2 cup mayonnaise
🌶️ 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
🌶️ 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
🌶️ 1 teaspoon paprika
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)


Instructions

1- Prepare the Chicken:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg.
  • Add the chicken pieces and let them marinate for about 15-20 minutes in the refrigerator.

2- Prepare the Coating:

  • In another bowl, mix together the flour, corn starch, garlic powder, onion powder, Cajun seasoning, paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

3- Coat the Chicken:

  • Remove the chicken from the buttermilk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
  • Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.
  • Shake off any excess coating.

4- Cook the Chicken:

  • In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the chicken in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  • Cook each batch for about 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

5- Prepare the Sauce:
