Instructions
1- Prep the Onions:
- Cut both ends of the onions and slice them in half.
- Boil the onion halves for approximately 15 minutes until softened, then remove and separate the layers.
2- Cook the Meat:
- In a pan with a bit of oil, cook the burger patties.
- Season them generously with burger seasoning, salt, pepper, adobo, sazon, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and parsley.
- Partially cook the patties, leaving them slightly pink in the center. Break them apart with a spatula.
- Add American cheese slices on top, cover the pan and allow the cheese to melt.
3- Assemble the Onion Boats:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place the softened onion layers onto a cast iron pan.
- Fill each onion layer with the cooked burger mixture, top with shredded cheese.
4- Bake:
- Place the pan in the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
5- Make the Sauce:
- Mix ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of Cajun seasoning in a bowl.
