Crispy fried shrimp with a golden, flavorful crust and juicy, tender interior. Perfect for dipping, this shrimp is crunchy, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious!

Ingredients

🍤 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

🥛 1 cup buttermilk

🌶️ 1 tbsp hot sauce

🥚 1 egg

🌿 1 tsp garlic powder

🌿 1 tsp onion powder

🧂 1 tsp paprika

🧂 1/2 tsp salt

🧂 1/2 tsp black pepper

🌿 1/2 tsp dried parsley

🌾 1 cup all-purpose flour

🌽 1/2 cup cornmeal

🥄 1 tsp baking powder

🌿 1 tsp Cajun seasoning

🥄 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

🥄 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

🛢️ Vegetable oil (for frying)


Instructions

1) Prepare the batter:

- In a bowl, mix buttermilk, hot sauce, and egg.

- Whisk until fully combined.

2) Season the shrimp:

- Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel.

- Season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and parsley.

3) Make the coating:

- In a separate bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, Cajun seasoning, cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika.

- Mix well to ensure even seasoning.

4) Coat the shrimp:

- Dip each shrimp into the buttermilk mixture, ensuring full coverage.

- Dredge in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to coat evenly.

5) Heat the oil:

- In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

6) Fry the shrimp:

- Carefully place shrimp into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.

- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.

- Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
