Ingredients

For the Blooming Onion:

🧅 1 large white onion
🥚 2 eggs
🥛 1/2 cup milk
🍚 Fry mix (seasoned flour or flour of your choice with seasoning)
🛢️ Oil for frying

For the Ground Beef:

🥩 1/2 pound ground beef (or ground turkey)
🧄 1 clove minced garlic
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
🌶️ 1 teaspoon paprika
🌿 1 teaspoon onion powder
🧂 1 teaspoon garlic salt
🌿 1 teaspoon All-Purpose seasoning (optional)
🌿 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
🌿 Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

For the Spicy Mayo:

🥄 1/2 cup mayonnaise
🌶️ 1 tablespoon mustard
🍅 1 tablespoon ketchup
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon paprika
🧄 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
🧄 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

For the Toppings:

🌿 1 cup shredded lettuce
🍅 1 tomato, diced
🧀 1/2 cup shredded cheese of your choice


Instructions

1- Prepare the Ground Beef:

  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef (or turkey), and cook until browned.
  • Stir in the cayenne pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic salt, optional All-Purpose seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Cook for a few minutes until well combined and set aside.

2- Prepare the Blooming Onion:

  • Slice the onion from top to bottom, not cutting through the root, to create petals.
  • Carefully separate the petals, leaving the core intact to hold the shape.
  • Whisk together the eggs and milk in a bowl.
  • Dredge the onion in the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly with the fry mix. Ensure all petals are well-covered.

3- Fry the Onion:

  • Heat the oil in a deep pot to about 350°F (175°C).
  • Slowly lower the coated onion into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

4- Prepare the Spicy Mayo:

  • In a small bowl, mix all the spicy mayo ingredients until smooth. Adjust seasoning as needed.

5- Assemble the Dish:

  • Place the fried onion on a serving plate.
  • Top with the cooked ground beef and shredded cheese.
  • Drizzle with spicy mayo, and scatter shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes over the top.
