Garlic Bread Lasagna Sub is a delightful fusion of two beloved dishes: garlic bread and lasagna. This recipe transforms a loaf of Italian or French bread into a hearty sub, loaded with rich layers of sausage, cheese, and sauce, making it a perfect meal for any occasion.
Ingredients
๐ 1 large Italian or French bread loaf
๐ง 1/2 cup vegetable oil spread (or butter)
๐ง 1 tablespoon garlic powder
๐ฟ 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
๐ฅฉ 1 pound ground Italian sausage

2 cups tomato sauce
๐ง 1 cup ricotta cheese
๐ฅ 1 large egg
๐ 6 lasagna riccia noodles, cooked according to package instructions
๐ง 2 cups Italian five cheese blend
๐ง 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1- Prepare the Garlic Bread:
- Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
- Slice the top off the bread loaf and hollow out a trench along the top, removing some of the bread from the center to create space for the filling.
- Mix the vegetable oil spread (or butter) with garlic powder and parsley flakes.
- Spread this mixture generously inside the trench and on the upper edges of the bread.
2- Toast the Garlic Bread:
- Place the bread on a baking sheet and toast it in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and set aside.
3- Prepare the Filling:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground Italian sausage until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat.
- In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese with the egg. Mix until smooth and well-combined.
4- Assemble the Lasagna Sub:
- Spread a layer of tomato sauce inside the trench of the toasted bread.
- Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread a layer of the ricotta-egg mixture over the noodles.
- Add a layer of cooked sausage.
- Sprinkle a layer of Italian five cheese blend.
- Repeat these layers until you reach the top of the bread, finishing with a layer of sauce and a generous topping of the Italian five cheese blend and Parmesan cheese.
5- Bake the Lasagna Sub:
- Place the assembled sub back in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6- Garnish and Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.
- Optionally, garnish with additional parsley flakes for a fresh touch.
