Salmon Baked Ziti is a comforting and hearty dish that combines the rich flavors of baked salmon with creamy cheese and ziti pasta. It's perfect for a family dinner or a gathering with friends, offering a delightful twist on a classic pasta bake.
Ingredients
🍝 12 ounces ziti pasta
🐟 1 pound salmon fillet
🫒 2 tablespoons olive oil
🧅 1 small onion, finely chopped
🧄 2 cloves garlic, minced
🥫 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
🥛 1 cup heavy cream
🧀 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
🧀 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
🧂 Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
🌿 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil or parsley
Instructions
1- Cook the Pasta:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the ziti and cook until just al dente.
- Drain and set aside.
2- Prepare the Salmon:
- Place the salmon fillet on a baking sheet.
- Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until fully cooked and flaky.
- Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then flake the salmon into bite-sized pieces.
3- Make the Sauce:
- In a large skillet, heat the remaining olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes and heavy cream, bringing to a simmer for 5 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4- Assemble the Bake:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ziti, flaked salmon, and tomato cream sauce.
- Stir in half of the mozzarella cheese and half of the Parmesan cheese.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
5- Bake:
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
6- Serve:
- Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes.
- Garnish with chopped fresh basil or parsley before serving.
